With the same care as a Swiss watch is assembled, exclusive espresso machines and grinders have been created in the Olympia Express manufactory since 1928. With over 85 years of tradition, the small, fine manufactory is one of the pioneers. Near Glarus in the Swiss mountains, the parts are almost all made in-house or specially produced for the machines on order. In front of the entrance are large rolls of coiled steel, from which these beautiful machines are then made with a lot of manual work. In the middle of Appenzell, on the Postplatz, stands a beautiful old house dedicated to traditional arts and crafts. On the first floor hides the art foundry of Sybille Bichsel. In her small workshop she makes the most wondrous things, cast from pewter. Among other things, the animal heads that we offer here at Foundandfound as coat hooks or furniture handles. After casting, she refines each piece by hand, in the end each is unique. She also makes the alloy herself with 97 percent tin, the rest she keeps secret. Sometimes we also find a hotel. Hotel Castell is cool in summer and dignified in winter. Lots of art on the walls, a light tower by James Turrel in the garden and a bar by Pipilotti Rist. The host couple Irene and Martin Müller have perfected the art of running a hotel that is attractive to both families and people without children over the years.
